As you are aware, our nation has constructed an enormous stock of dwelling units and other buildings over the last more than 60 years. With such a huge asset base the challenges of maintaining and servicing them also multiply manifold. The costs and resources required for operating and maintaining this housing stock exceeds the gross business of Indian Construction Industry and a sustainable process of managing these assets is of extreme importance.
Safe structures are the backbone of human coping capacity to healthy living.Most structures in the country are non-engineered and lack of awareness and knowledge amongst the masses and mains regarding earthquake resisting construction techniques results in high seismic vulnerability. Nationwide value of stressed built-up structures, especially buildings would exceed Rs.10 lac Crores. As the task is huge, manpower required for these assessments is enormous.
As a part of CIDC’s mandate to provide skilling and up-skilling in the field of construction/ infrastructure and looking at the huge manpower requirement in health assessment of Buildings field, CIDC has launched a three-module (3 levels) training program for “Building Health Inspectors”, thus, creating a National Cadre of “Building Health Inspectors”, which shall be competent to conduct the required building inspections and report their health for the purpose of management, rehabilitation and/ or demolition of such buildings.
We are pleased to announce that Level 1 (online program) of this course shall commence from 18th to 20th January, 2023. Level 1 shall cover General Features of Building Health Inspection.
