International Conference
- The International Conference on “Institutional Arbitration in Infrastructure and Construction” was jointly organized by Construction Industry Arbitration Council (CIAC) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNICITRAL) and was inaugurated by the Honorable Mr. Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Chief Justice of India, held in New Delhi from 16-18 October 2008. The conference was attended by the delegates from various countries namely U.K, New York, Canada, Germany/Switzerland, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
- The theme underlining this conference was the role of institutional arbitration in facilitating a healthy arbitration culture and in promoting a speedy, cost effective and efficient means for the resolution of disputes arising in the infrastructure and construction sectors. Through this conference, it was also endeavored to showcase the efforts made by UNCITRAL in facilitation of international trade and investment by the progressive harmonization and modernization of national laws in areas such as dispute resolution, international contract practices and sale of goods and services.
