National Arbitration Competition 2009:
To inculcate a culture of arbitration among the students the “First National Arbitration Competition” was organised by Construction Industry Arbitration Council (CIAC) jointly with Indian Law Institute from March 20th to 22nd, 2009.
The Competition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chief Justice of India on 20th March, 2009. The occasion was also graced by the presence of Hon’ble Dr. Justice Arijit Pasayat, Judge, Supreme court of India and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mukul Mudgal, Judge, Delhi High Court.
Twelve (12) teams from across the country participated in the competition. These include National Law University, Jodhpur; Gujarat National Law University; University Institute of Legal Studies, Shimla; IIT Madras; Vivekananda Law School, Delhi; Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow; University Law College, Bangalore; University Institute of Law, Ludhiana; BMS College of Law, Bangalore; School of Excellence in Law, Tamil Nadu, Kerala Law Academy Law College and Law Centre-II, University of Delhi.
The final round was judged by Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. Sathasivam, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mukul Mudgal, Judge, High Court of Delhi and Mr. P.H. Parekh, Senior Advocate. The teams which competed in this round were Kerala Law Academy Law College and Gujarat National Law University. Team from Gujarat National Law University won the Competition while Kerala Law Academy Law College was adjudged as runner up. The team from IIT Chennai won the Best Memorial Award. Hon'ble Dr. Justice Arijit Pasayat, Judge Supreme Court of India presented Awards to the winners of competition and congratulated them for their performance |
