National Proficiency Evaluation Test (NPET) is an independent assessment of proficiencies of young engineering Graduates, diploma holders as well as supervisors. NPET also covers those with Bachelor/Masters' in Management and Architecture.

The National Proficiency Evaluation Board constituted by CIDC is conducting NPET. Under NPET, proficiency grading based on Academic achievements and work experience (for experienced professionals), is being undertaken. Based on this evaluation, a nation wide merit list of candidates is developed. It is made available to the prospective employer organization to select and employ bright and promising candidates. The testing is based on the generic needs of the employer organizations and is upgraded from time to time. It is conducted for fresh as well as experienced graduates and the scores achieved shall be valid for a period of 3 years from the particular date of test. The Board functions independently under the chair of Dr. S.A. Reddi, Former Dy. Managing Director, Gammon India Limited, and comprises of eminent project specialists multi discipline- engineering administrators, academicians, top managers etc. A complete list of board members is hosted on CIDC website.

The first test has been conducted successfully on September 19, 2009 and we have evaluated 58 candidates of different streams, who will be recommended to the Construction Industry Constituents. We are scheduling the next test of NPET on February 27, 2010, to enhance the placement activities further.

CIDC has a full fledged placement division-CIDC Student Placement Cell (CSPC), which is involved in placing construction professionals throughout the country. The cell provides assistance to the various training departments and units of CIDC, Construction Industry Vocational Training Association (CIVTA),  and Construction Industry Professional Development  Training Association (CIPDTA), and other associate organizations.

To facilitate the placement process and chart out the future course of actions, we have scheduled a workshop titled the Second Workshop and Round Table Meet on NPET for Construction Professionals on November 17, 2009 at No Dig India Show 2009, NSIC Grounds, Okhla Phase-III, New Delhi, from 11:30 AM onwards, wherein we are inviting interested stakeholders to interact and start the way forward.
