Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFCL) signed Memorandum of Agreement with Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) on 5th September 2012 in New Delhi to impart Skill Development Programme for 300 beneficiaries belonging to SC/ST/OBC /Women & EW S under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate.
The main objective of the programme is to provide employment opportunities either through wage or self-employment to the new candidate/ existing workers (socially and economically challenged youth) by upgrading their skills in the construction trades. This training programme is for underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of society and trainees have been selected from the states of UP, Bihar & Haryana.
The training is being imparted in CIDC’s training Centre located in Faridabad & Ghaziabad. The training has been provided in various construction trades namely Mason, Bar bender, Shuttering Carpenter, Plumber, GWS, Electrician, Plumber, land Surveyor, Safety Inspector, Store Keeper, Site Accountant, Lab Technician etc.
The programme is of 3 months duration and weekly performance and assessment tests are conducted followed by final examination. The certification is completed thereafter, and the trainee is given an opportunity to participate in the placement meets organized every month in CIDC.
This structured training empowers the students with skill sets and knowledge about the specific trades, advancement of technology & makes them aware with recent trends and best practices in construction industry in a short period.
This job oriented skill development training program is not only providing meaningful employment to the unemployed youth and also believes that construction activities generate positive and social impact in the community. It also helps in creation of dedicated resource pool of skilled and certified construction workforce for nation building.
